South Africa's largest city. Hosts the Akoma International Afro-Latin Dance Festival each November at Midrand Conference Centre — a week-long celebration of African and Latin dance, music, and culture across salsa, bachata, kizomba, semba, and Afro-house.
Two SBK schools dominate: SACATO (since early 2000s) and Sensagria. Free Sunday Mojo Market party in Sea Point is the city's flagship weekly.
Durban's Latin week is dominated by Sabrosa Salsa (Umhlanga, since the early 2000s — the only school in the city teaching salsa, bachata, kizomba, and rueda de casino under one roof) plus Pa Mi Corazon's monthly Latin Nights at Neighbourhood Cafe in Glenashley. Durban Red Salsa and Aloha Lounge round out the rotation.
Pretoria's anchor is Ukudanca — an Afro-Latin social-dance school running a graded SBK class block every Tuesday at Salsa Mexican Grill in Loftus Park, with a free introductory lesson at 6:30 PM into the open social. Estilo Cubano covers the Cuban-style salsa rotation across Pretoria and northern Johannesburg.
